In January, St-Cergue holds a major sled dog and ski-jöring competition. This new activity is popular and is quickly becoming a snow sport with a bright future. Combining the sensation of gliding over snow on skis pulled by a team of powerful sled dogs, the sport promises to offer a good show at La Givrine.

To the drone of alphorns, the crack of whips, the beat of folk music and the dexterity of flag throwers, herdsmen and about ten herds of cows return to the valley through the village from their summer in the alpine meadows. Various stands, food and drink.

The Paléo Festival Nyon is the biggest open-air festival in Switzerland and ranks among the most important festivals in Europe. During six days, its six stages provide a platform for artists from all over the word. It’s a star-studded cast under starry night skies with a musical mix of rock, reggae, French chanson, world music and street theatre.

Caribana, on the shores of Lake Geneva near the port of Crans, is the first open-air festival of the summer and the musical rhythms and atmosphere are as fresh as the new season. On Sunday, the festival closes on a high note with activities for the kids. Caribakids features clowns, workshop concerts and shows for the whole family.

In August each year, the Rive quarter in Nyon plays host to lovers of second-hand goods and antiques. For more than 25 years, traders from all four corners of Switzerland have exhibited objects from the past as rare as they are unusual.
